Conductors

Conductors shall be Stranded Class 2 of plain annealed copper or aluminium and in accordance with IEC 60228.

Conductor Screen

Conductor screening shall be either semi conductive tape or a layer of extruded semi conducting compound or combination of the two.

XLPE Insulation

Insulation shall be XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) complying with test requirements of IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60811, insulation thickness shall be as per IEC 60502-2.

Insulation Screen

The insulation screen shall consist of a non-metallic semi-conducting part in combination with a metallic part.

The non-metallic part shall consist of either a semi-conductive tape or a layer of extruded semi-conducting compound or combination of these materials or either material in combination with a semi conducting material.

• Metallic screen (Single Core Cables): Extruded Lead Sheath shall serve also as Metallic Screen. Copper Tape Screened and Copper Wire Screened Cables along with Lead Sheath can also be provided upon request.
  
  
• Metallic screen (Multicore Core Cables): Metallic Screen shall consist of one or more tapes, or a concentric layers of wires or a combination of wires and tape.

Inner Covering

Inner covering shall be non-hygroscopic extruded PVC as per IEC 60502-2.

Lead Sheath

Extruded Lead Alloy Type "E" in accordance with BS EN 12548.

Separation Sheath

Separation Sheath shall be of Extruded PVC. Material and thickness of Separation Sheath shall be in accordance with IEC 60502-2.

Metallic Armour

Armour shall be as per IEC 60502-2 of the following types :


1. Round or Flat Wire Armour
2. Double Tape Armour

Armour material shall be Galvanized steel for multi core cables and Aluminium for single core cables. This is as per IEC 60502 recommendation.

Outer Sheath

Outer sheath shall be extruded PVC/ST2 as per IEC 60502-2, special type of sheathing such as Fire Retardant or AntiTermite and Arrodent, Ultraviolet, Oil resistive, etc. are available on request.
