RCGC sources its raw materials from reputed international suppliers. The most important cable components, such as XLPE insulation, shielding materials and conductor materials are procured from the world’s leading suppliers of cable components. Prior to utilizing in the cable manufacturing processes, all incoming raw materials are analysed and tested to ensure their quality and compliance with specifications before being used.

Many of our finished products are also type tested and certified from KEMA, Netherlands, BASEC, UK and others international testing laboratories. Type tests are also performed in-house on a pre-defined regular basis to ensure and guarantee the quality of manufactured products.

RCGC has one of the best equipped and up to date testing facilities in the region. The laboratories are equipped with facilities for testing raw materials as well as finished products. Both electrical and non-electrical tests can be carried in the RCGC laboratories. The electrical test fields are one of the best in the region and are geared for routine and type testing of various types of cables.
- Three routine test fields for testing MV and HV cables. These test fields comprise of large shielded enclosures for carrying out the routine high voltage tests and partial discharge measurements up to 400 kV at a noise level of below 2 pC. Measurement of insulation tand (losses) and capacitance can also be carried out.
- Type test field consisting of 2.4MV impulse generator, 400kV AC test system extendable to 800 kV, several heating cycles equipment for conducting special tests, insulation breakdown tests, type test on medium and high voltage cables and accessories, and qualification tests as per IEC, AEIC and BS standards. Also long term tests facilities are available for determination of ageing characteristics of power cables.

For 69 and 132kV the group commitment to quality can be extended to after installation tests. RCGC can offer after installation high voltage AC tests with its state of the art variable frequency test system as per international standards and recommendations. This is a mobile system, which can test HV cable installations or HV switchgears up to 3220kV AC and anywhere in the region. More than 130 circuits totalling more than 250km of HV cables (mainly 132kV) have been tested since year 1999. RCGC also has mobile HV DC testing system up to 400kV and all other test equipment needed for HV cable installation.
